NM5 and OMT Database Check

by lrhguy on April 6, 2011

If you are using Natural Music 5 and OMT Media Touch 2, as we are at WUMD, you are probably using Log Tools to export  your categories, and importing them into NM5. This is fine for NEW cuts, but what about when you delete cuts or they have expired? This is especially important for PSA’s, many of which have expire dates. If you don’t remove them from the NM5 database, NM5 will continue to schedule them, and of course, On Air won’t play them, possibly creating a ‘short’ log and putting On Air off schedule.

I needed an easy way to find these cuts that NM5 should not be scheduling, and NM5CheckOMT was born. It ‘reconciles’ the NM5 database to the OMT database, by category, and creates a report of cuts that should be deleted in NM5. ↓ Read the rest of this article…

OMTNRMove – New Release Mover

by lrhguy on February 16, 2011
Posted In: OMT/iMediaTouch

At WUMD, we load new releases into the system every Monday. They remain a “new release” for eight weeks, then they get moved into core. See more about this in a previous article about OMTNR, which creates a report about these cuts.

To aid in the ‘moving’ of these cuts, OMTNRMove finds the same cuts that OMTNR reports, and moves them from the New Release Categories to the Core Categories. The cut, vis and album art jpg are all moved.

What a time saver! ↓ Read the rest of this article…

NM5Schedule – Schedule Template Crossview

by lrhguy on January 25, 2011
Posted In: Natural Music

At WUMD we use Natural Software’s Natural Music 5 scheduler to generate the daily logs.  NM5 uses hour ‘clocks’ to create a template for an hour. You then assign these different clocks to each hour of the day for the week. In general, we use the same template each week, but due to the different programs,  public affairs and genre’s, there are currently 49 individual clocks.

The basic format is the same each hour, breaks at the top of hour, 20 past and 40 past. Promos and PSAs and the legal ID usually occur at the same time each hour. I thought it would be nice to have a “crossview” report which would show the days across and the hours down. It reads the ‘note’ part of the clock, since we use OMT/iMediaTouch, I can use the information to create a useful report showing certain commands being issued to On-Air.

Here’s a small sample of the report. ↓ Read the rest of this article…

OMTCR – Cuts Report

by lrhguy on January 13, 2011
Posted In: OMT/iMediaTouch

With so many DJs at WUMD, and the variety of genres, we figured we needed a way to keep them informed about the status of cuts being loaded into the OMT iMediatouch On-Air automation. Thus, OMTCR was born, which simply reports the number of cuts in each category, and optionally, the number of those cuts which have been played once, twice or three times. The report can be automatically emailed or ftp’d as desired.

Here is a short sample of the output: ↓ Read the rest of this article…

Amazing Discovery Suppressed!

by lrhguy on January 6, 2011
Posted In: Between the Covers

This book is as much about the discovery as it is about the suppression of the discovery by the likes of the FDA, American Cancer Society, and others. The discovery? A hierarchically organized road map into the workings of every level of life, from viruses on up to humans. This information allows a doctor (or chemist) to create a directed (I call addressable) medicine to ebb pain and repair the body.
