OMTNRMove and NM5 – Together at Last
OMTNRMove is the program we use at WUMD every Monday to move the eight week old new releases into the core categories from their new release categories. (See more in a previous article.) The new releases are sprinkled into the schedule, which is created by Natural Music 5 (NM5). So, after using OMTNRMove, I usually go into NM5 and delete all the moved cuts from the old new release category, then reimport then into the new core category. I’d use the OMTNR report to know what had to be deleted.
Well, not any more!
The updated OMTNRMove can move also ‘move’ the cut in the NM5 database! After moving the cut in the OMT database and disk drive, the source and source2 fields in NM5 for that cut are also updated to the new ID and Category. Source2 is where NM5 stores the OMT category, the first two letters of which are the NM5 category, which is also updated.
Not only is this update a big time saver, it preserved the scheduling history for the cut in NM5, resulting in a better music rotation.
